Where I Buy My Indian Spices in Zürich
If you’ve ever taken one of my cooking classes, you already know — spices matter. And yes, you can cook proper Indian food in Zürich.
Here are the places I personally go to when I need fresh curry leaves, good basmati rice, proper garam masala, or that one ingredient Migros simply doesn’t carry.
1️⃣ Aggarwal AG – Kreis 4

This is one of the classics. When I need a reliable selection of lentils, rice, spice blends, or frozen parathas — this is where I go. It’s well stocked and you can usually find exactly what you came for (plus two things you didn’t plan to buy). And if you love to try some Indian street food they have some amazing choices too.
2️⃣ Indiasupermarkt.ch – Kreis 5

Very practical and well organized. I like coming here for pantry staples — spice mixes, dals, frozen okra, and sometimes fresh herbs. They also deliver across Switzerland, which is helpful if you’re planning a bigger cooking session. This is the place I go when I have a cooking course at Migros Limmatplatz.
3️⃣ Art of Food – Oerlikon
📍 Franklinstrasse, 8050 Zürich
(Usually no big website presence)
If I’m in Oerlikon, this is a convenient stop. It’s smaller but carries a good mix of Indian and Asian ingredients — great if you cook across cuisines like I often do. Monika is very friendly and since she is from the North they have a good collection of north Indian food varieties.
4️⃣ Barkat Cash & Carry – Wiedikon

Very good for bulk items — flours, rice, oils, big spice packs. If I’m cooking for a group or teaching a larger class, this is a practical stop. Most of the Indian restaurants also shop here.
5️⃣ Namastey India – Adliswil

Just outside Zürich, but worth mentioning. Friendly atmosphere and a solid selection of staples and frozen products. A good option if you’re nearby.
🌶 A Little Note From Me
These are the places I trust when I teach at Migros Klubschule or cook at home. Because spices are not just ingredients — they’re memory, warmth, and story.
And yes, Zürich has everything you need — you just need to know where to look.
